As a group, it was decided that 4 Walls Crit Group will:
* Support pre-emerging
artists
* Have an open discussion and through that, create a supportive network where artists can critically engage with
their own and each other's practice, exchanging ideas and work
* Share knowledge and opportunities
* Develop
professional practice:
- as an opportunity to bring in staff/visiting artists
- as a forum to improve writing skills
for exhibition and fundraising proposals
* Develop a model for good practice and disseminate this to a wider community
of artists
Crit
Group is an important vehicle for talking about work in progress and the issues with juggling working a '9-5 job'
as well as continuing to practice as an artist. It is an essential check in point for us as pre-emerging artists.
Crit Group continues on a monthly basis at various studios across London.
Crit Group was hosted by Chisenhale Gallery from October 2009 to April 2010. We would like to thank
Chisenhale Gallery for their generous support during this period.
We have had guests: Eleanor Wynne-Davies,
Rebecca Birch, Harry Pye, Robert Luzar, Timo Kube, Terry Smith and Ben Heasman . We would like to thank our guests for giving
their time to Crit Group.
